Ali Green is a photographer, art director, and designer distilling authentic identity into beautifully aligned visual content.
Services: Brand Voice & Tone / Website Copy
For Ali — Brand voice development and website copy for a photographer whose practice is rooted in authentic identity, sensitive seeing, and the distillation of place. Work spanned the full breadth of Ali's practice — portraiture, interior and architectural photography, travel and landscape, food and drink, and more — developing a coherent voice that could hold the intimacy and specificity of each distinct genre while remaining recognisably hers throughout. The writing sought to do what Ali's images do so attentively: move beneath the surface of what is seen toward what is felt. Each section was developed through close attention to her ethos, her way of working, and the presence she brings to her subjects.
“Portraiture is a beautiful collaboration between a model and photographer. With a sensitive approach, portraiture captures the authentic essence of a person, without distortion, offering a true reflection to the world.
Personal by nature, portraiture invites someone into another’s world, creating a sense of intimacy and intrigue beyond the photo. Through 1-1 collaboration, the vulnerability of being in front of the camera transforms into a playful and familiar process, with every element tailored around the client’s needs to nurture a comfortable environment.
Outdoor spaces act as beautiful settings, with soft natural light for delicately framing each scene. Carefully choosing spaces is an essential part of each portraiture session to allow a person to feel most themselves, inspiring the small, authentic moments to emerge and be captured.
Although portraiture captures a fleeting moment of a person, I carefully shoot and edit images so they remain timeless in nature, suited to a wide range of personal and professional needs. I work mostly with sustainable clothing and makeup brands on these shoots, styling classic looks with a contemporary edge that allow both the model and brand to shine through.
I seek to capture people as they are, drawing out the authentic moments that beautifully represent their true sense of self. Through a delicate and skilful approach to shooting and post-processing, I work with sensitivity, avoiding editing techniques that may distort body image perceptions. In this, a pure, un-filtered and unconventional standard of beauty manifests organically in a gentle counter to harmful and unrealistic ideals.
Whether shared as a single image or a formed collection, these portraits may speak to a person as a whole, offering a true reflection that allows the individual to appear through the images. ”
“Buildings and interiors are the meeting points between people and place. These curated spaces house intimate relationships of individuality, community, craftsmanship, culture, history, design and location, forming a sense of home and belonging that extends beyond the bricks and mortar.
The considered details that form a place — from expert architectural design to beautiful interior furnishing — are visual stories creating a window into inhabiting a space. Through sensitive capturing, these glimpses may gently evoke the same atmosphere as a space’s lived-in physical presence, drawing audiences through the virtual into the real, offering a warm invitation to enter, or a reminder to return.
From shops, studios and restaurants, to homes and hotels including heritage and modern builds, my architectural and interior photography translates a place’s authentic soul and craftsmanship, offering a glimpse into the synergy between a space, those who created it, and those who are invited in.
With a background in studying History of Art, I deeply appreciate the manifestation of art in interior and architectural forms, seeking to distill the arrangements of light, surface, material, shape and colour to reflect how it feels to live (or stay) within these spaces. Looking to inner and outer features, establishing shots accompany soft and candid imagery of fine details, highlighting the craftsmanship and character whilst carefully situating a place within its beautifully interwoven surroundings.
In capturing these sensory experiences, interior and architectural photography becomes a visual entryway into an establishment, representing the feeling of being held in a space to welcome a lasting connection beyond the image. ”
“The true sense of a place can be found in the smallest of moments — the food on a shared table, the stone of a city’s architecture, the mist settling between mountains. Travel and landscape photography is a practice of seeing and distilling, creating intimate captures that speak to the wider story of a place through a single moment.
Anchored in Cornwall, and exploring internationally, my work draws out the stories and shared connections of a place, documenting beauty in all its natural and man-made forms.
Landscapes ground us into a sense of belonging. One person’s home is different from another’s, but through imagery we invite a shared experience, inspiring reconnection to our own homelands or new possibilities of connection to unfamiliar places.
Through videography, film and digital photography, I work with the visual to translate a feel for the other senses, documenting scenes that hint at the smells, sounds, and atmosphere of a place. These moments ground in the true soul of a place, moving deeper than surface-level appearances and beyond routes most frequently taken to offer a fresh perspective.
Traversing both new and familiar landscapes, travel forms a central role in my practice, offering a sense of wonder and creative nourishment. Growing up in Cornwall, in a small village bordering the moorlands, I have an affection for the misty scenery of bracken and tors, whilst explorations further-afield offer new contexts and the enrichment of new perspectives.
Mini photography journals document these travels, from mountain climbing across Scottish Munros to kayaking along scorched coasts. You can find them here.
An art-form in its own right, travel and landscape photography lends itself beautifully to editorial features, or used to elevate a brand’s imagery. In these sensitive captures, the individual experience of a place is preserved and offered as a moment of shared connection, expanding horizons and inspiring the feeling of being transported elsewhere.”
“There are many stories held within food, a shared experience that spans the tables of memory, community, culture, and industry. Within these layers, tender moments for connection emerge through each step of craving, sourcing, preparing and enjoying a beautiful meal.
Food photography captures the visual artistry of meals and ingredients to evoke the senses beyond the kitchen. From showcasing a chef’s creativity and distilling a restaurant’s commitment to seasonality and service, to documenting the reward of a farmer’s harvest or foraged morsels sizzling over open flames, this rich genre celebrates the small stories within food.
With a degree in Editorial and Advertising Photography and a deep understanding of the industry, I collaborate with talented chefs, restaurants and food producers who revere quality over convenience.
Based in Cornwall and shooting internationally, my approach to location and style authentically captures a shared passion for food sourcing, seasonality, ethos and community without fuss and pretence.
The sensory experience of food often begins with sight; in this moment, we start consuming before the meal commences. Eating with our eyes can ring as true with an image as it can with a laid table, where presentation is an essential ingredient in how we experience food. Through styling and considered photography, craving can begin with an image, translating flavour and freshness to invite an audience to sit around the physical or imagined table.
In small and intimate projects, I work with a sensitive approach to natural light, capturing evocative scenes to savour through film and digital photography. These visual feasts invite connection beyond the dish to align with a brand’s values of true sustainability, passion and purpose, communicating a process of integrity and care.
From the provenance of raw ingredients to finished plates, culinary photography may act as a visual tasting menu of a brand and their offerings, distilling ethos to evoke cravings and welcome audiences to a seat at their table.”
